Summary

This research paper looks at the use of Google sites as the web-based technology to support the learning of Design and Technology. Students’ perception of their prior knowledge on e-learning and whether e-learning is able to support their learning played an important role in deciding whether this mode of learning helps student learn. The school in the study is located in the eastern region of Singapore with a student population of about 1500 students. It was found that students do have certain misconceptions about what e-learning is really like based on what they had experienced but they are still able to see and recognize the benefits that e-learning bring. Students are also receptive to using Web 2.0 technology such as Wiki technology to enhance and support their learning experience.
