《西游记》与新加坡小学生的社交技能和情绪管理 (Fostering social and emotional learning in Singaporean primary pupils through the Journey to the West)

Abstract
新加坡教育部在2005年推出社交技能与情绪管理学习(SEL)架构,这一举措主要是为了鼓励学校在五大方面培养学生的社交与情绪管理能力。五大方面分别为:自我层面的认识、社会层面的认识、自我规范、人际关系处理与负责任的决定。通过这五大技能的学习,学生将会更好地认识自我,与周围的人建立良好的关系,逐步成长为身心健康的好公民。
目前,教育部已将SEL列入公民与道德课教学大纲,并鼓励教师将SEL融入华文教学中去。笔者在本地小学中已有七年教学经验,并不断尝试在日常教学中提高学生的情智能力。选取适宜的教学材料会令教学事半功倍,本文中所选取的教学材料取自《西游记》中的故事。笔者发现,《西游记》故事中的童真,趣味和东方魔幻色彩都深深吸引着学生,而且故事主要人物个性分明突出,之间的关系简单又不失微妙。学生在了解故事的过程中,可以提高自我的认识及人际关系的处理能力,并学会明辨是非,做出正确而理性的选择。
在本文中,笔者将整理分析通过《西游记》教授SEL的过程与心得,并反思教学的效果与发展方向。

In 2005, the Ministry of Education released the framework of Social Emotional Learning (SEL).This is to encourage schools to enables students to develop the skills to succeed in life. The 5 core SE competencies are as follow: Self Awareness, Social Awareness, Self Management, Relationship Management, Responsible Decision Making. Social and Emotional competencies can help the pupils to be good and responsible citizens, who would take care of their mental and physical health.
Now the SEL is one part of Civil and moral education syllabus. The teachers are also encouraged to implement SEL into Chinese language lessons. The author has been teaching Chinese in local primary school for 7 years, and trying to find better teaching materials which can enhance pupils’ interests to teacher SEL. In this article, we will discuss why the Journey to the west can be used to suit children’s amusement, and how we can design a program based on the story to teach SEL.
