Abstract
The grammar and semantics of a language are presented through lexical transmission. What criteria should be used to evaluate the pros and cons of a set of textbook vocabulary? This is a question worth exploring. This article focuses on the vocabulary, difficulty, repetition rate and semantic transparency of textbook vocabulary. The textbook "Chinese" prepared by Jinan University Press and the textbook "Chinese in Primary Schools" prepared by the Singapore Ministry of Education are selected as research objects. What is the difference between the teaching materials in the inner circle and the teaching materials in the middle circle in teaching Chinese as a foreign language? And through the comparative study of the two textbooks, analyze the pros and cons of the two textbooks in terms of vocabulary, and compare with the vocabulary outline to define the level of Singapore Chinese textbook Primary Chinese in the Chinese textbook circle.
The other part of this study mainly explores the semantic transparency of vocabulary. Taking morpheme compound words as an example, and taking the morpheme as a unit, it extends from the morpheme semantic transparency of the compound word to the lexical semantic transparency, so as to measure the difficulty of the vocabulary, and based on this, proposed a complete plan to evaluate the semantic transparency of vocabulary. To examine the pros and cons of vocabulary in a set of textbooks, in addition to considering the vocabulary, vocabulary difficulty, and recurrence rate, the semantic transparency of the vocabulary should be included in the evaluation system. This study will try to evaluate two sets of textbooks in this way, and hope to contribute to the evaluation of textbooks in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
