新加坡小学华文教材内容的对比研究(A diachronic analysis on Singapore primary school Chinese textbooks contents)

Abstract
新加坡不同时期语言教材的比较分析可以窥视时代变迁给学生学习内容和语
带来的变化,进而揭示学习者语言能力和文化取向的变化趋势。新加坡华文 教学从建国开始就担负着两大目标:(一)工具性目标以及(二)人文性目 标。由于新加坡政府特别强调华文教学的人文性目标,与此相关的内容必然 会在华文教材中反映出来。至今对于新加坡小学华文教材编写的相关研究数 量相当少。在这些为数不多的研究当中,相当多的研究都是着重在语法结构 教学、字词难易度的研究,关于内容的研究并不多。而且那些关于内容的研 究许多都是局部的或是抽样的研究。对于新加坡的华文教育课程内容有系统 性的研究更加少。
有鉴于此,本研究对新加坡编写的两套教材—— 《好儿童华文》和《小学华文》运用对比分析法进行研究,通过具体细致地 分析,揭示两套不同时期,不同政策影响下编写的华文教材所呈现出的内容 取向和分布特征。统计项目包括三大范畴六个方面,即文化取向(主题范 畴、题材内容),时空特征(时代性、地域性)以及文本特征(语体、体 裁)。主要对这六个方面内容的分布取向作客观、系统的定量分析;来掌握 两套教材编写内容的变化趋势,揭示取材内容的隐含信息,对未来教材的编 写做出预测。
本研究得出的结论是新加坡的华文教材从来没改变对 文化传统传承的重视。《好儿童华文》与《小学华文》都坚守语言与文化并 重的信念,从来也没有忽略教材内容的文化性。无论新加坡的华文教材如何 革新,国家母语教育目标始终是一致的,华文教育在新加坡不是纯粹的语言 教学,而是语言教学和文化传承并重。两份教材都重视人格的培养,通过在 题材内容中纳入了传统文化题材、爱国题材以及丰富的价值观题材来塑造华文学习者的人格。

Evaluation of content of Singapore Primary Chinese Language textbook of different periods allows us to have a better understanding of the changes and challenges posed to students’ learning. It also shows that the changes in linguistic ability of our learners and the trends of content selection in the textbook. The teaching Chinese Language in Singapore aims to achieve two objectives: to enable learners to communicate in Chinese and at the same time to cultivate traditional Chinese culture and customs to the learners. Much focus has been given to the latter and hence content of relevant topics would be displayed in Chinese Language textbooks.
This study involves two Singapore Chinese Language textbooks at different times, to evaluate and compare the difference in trend of the content selection and their distributions. The comparison of content selection were done in three categories: cultural and thematic trends, characteristic of content selection in terms of era and regions, and the types of genres. Systematic quantitative analysis were conducted based on the distributions of these categories to give an insight on the trend of selection of content of the textbooks in future.
This study concludes with a summary of the research topic, including the research findings: it had been consistent in emphasizing the importance of Chinese cultural cultivation in these two Singapore Chinese Language textbooks. This adherents to the national education policy and ensures that both Chinese Language literacy and Chinese culture are equally important. Both of the textbooks emphasizes in molding the learners’ characters, by including articles that consists of themes such as patriotism, traditional Chinese culture and customs and articles that cultivate different values.
