Abstract
This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Group Organizational Skills Training (OST) BRIEF intervention for five male participants with ADHD, who presented with parent-reported organizational difficulties. This is the first known study to investigate the efficacy of a group-based, condensed version of the empirically-supported Organizational Skills Training Programme for Children with ADHD, which involved the explicit training of organizational skills to help primary school children in Singapore target their Organization, Time Management, and Planning (OTMP) difficulties. In addition to parent-rated outcome measures typically used in other organizational skills treatment studies, this study also utilized child measures as one of its primary outcome measures. In general, large effect sizes were found on both the parent and child-rated measures of participants’ OTMP functioning, although some variability was noted between parent and child reports. Parents were generally satisfied with the programme, attendance was high, and there were no dropouts. The findings in this pilot study are encouraging, and provide preliminary support for the effectiveness and feasibility of the Group OST-BRIEF intervention programme. Implications for practice as well as future directions are also discussed.
