Abstract
Ucapan ini disampaikan di majlis perasmian Anjung Budiman. Jawatankuasa Projek Anjung Budiman telah mengundang Cikgu Muhammad Ariff Ahmad sebagai penyampai mengenai 'Anjung Budiman dan Peranannya'. Penyampai menerangkan tentang usaha mencari nama untuk kumpulan warga tua, sebab nama Anjung Budiman digunakan, makna dan juga peranan 'Anjung Budiman'. 'Anjung' bermakna tempat orang beristirahat, duduk bersantai, mengambil angin segar, berbual-bual, bertukar-tukar fikiran. 'Budiman' pula merujuk kepada orang yang berbudi. Nama 'Anjung Budiman' digunakan sebagai nama kelab warga tua dan diharapkan menjadi lambang, simbol atau slogan kegiatan kelab tersebut. Penyampai mengesyorkan beberapa kegiatan yang boleh diusahakan, seperti mengumpulkan cerita-cerita lama dan bahan-bahan sejarah, membina hobi dan kepakaran para anggota, mengusahakan seni kraftangan, mengadakan kegiatan pembelajaran dan mengajar sesama anggota kelab dalam bidang duniawi dan ukhrawi. Penyampai berharap penganjur dan pengurus kelab akan pertimbangkan saranan-saranannya.
This speech was delivered at the opening ceremony of Anjung Budiman. The Anjung Budiman Project Committee invited Cikgu Muhammad Ariff Ahmad as speaker on 'Anjung Budiman and its Role'. The speaker explains the efforts to find a suitable name for the elderly group, reasons ‘Anjung Budiman’ is used, its meaning and role. 'Anjung' means a place for people to sit down with friends, chat and exchange ideas. 'Budiman' refers to courteous and virtuous people. As such the name will be a symbol or slogan for the club's activities. The speaker recommends several activities that can be undertaken by Anjung Budiman, such as collecting past stories, historical materials, developing members' hobbies and skills, organizing learning activities and teaching fellow club members in the worldly and ukhrawi fields. The speaker hopes the club organizers and managers will consider his recommendations for their scheduled activities.
