Abstract
The motivation ior this case study is founded on a desire to explore whether the use of drama can contribute purposefully to a student's sense of competence and self-worth, and if it does, whether significant skills and understandings are transferable to their behaviour as well as other areas of learning in the classroom. Thus, this academic exercise examines the impact of drama learning on the sense of self-esteem of a group of 11 students identified by the school as having difficulties with the learning processes in the classroom as a result of their low concept of self. To investigate these questions, the researcher developed and implemented a series of interactive drama workshops that focused on issues of self and identity, with the aim of improving the participants' self-concept and their capacity for self-managing behaviour.
