dc.description.abstractThis study describes the stresses experienced by 397 student teachers during their first Teaching Practicum. The respondents completed the "Survey of Practicum Stresses", a 29-item survey questionnaire which comprised a list of experiences related to their Practicum. The student teachers were asked to indicate if each of the experiences reflected in the list was stressful. For experiences that were stressful, the respondents were also asked to indicate how often those experiences were stressful. Differences with regard to gender, level of classes taught and the type of school attached to, are presented. Implications of these findings on the Practicum and recommendations for effective coping strategies are discussed in the paper.en
