Abstract:

This closing speech was delivered at the Pesta Puisi Nusantara, attended by Nusantara poets from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. This event was held in Singapore, which in its physicality is considered as the smallest district as compared to the rest of Nusantara. But the speaker is of the view that a small body can also have a big heart, can have a lot of passion and can have big ambitions. The speaker talked about when he attended the opening ceremony of this event and it was then followed by a working paper from Brunei. Most of the stories presented were similar to the circumstances in Singapore before independence. The speaker also shared two poems which are about 'protest'; one was from Brunei and another one from Indonesia. The speaker shared that there are two types of protests; constructive and distractive. The speaker ends the speech with the hope that the festival will bring much benefit to all.
