Abstract:
Traditionally, classroom management was taught to pre-service teachers using textbased cases. This development project explores the use of asynchronous online discussion (AOD) of video cases depicting authentic classrooms situations. The goal was to develop beginning teachers’ (BT) capacity to analyse various classroom management issues and enhance their decision making skills. We studied the benefits of discussing the video cases online and noted the successes and shortcomings of the design of the online forum and draw implications for improving teacher education.
