Abstract
Teaching is similar as the construction of a building. Some plans are needed. Curriculum plan is similar as the blueprint of a building which indicates what the building looks like. While the instructional plan of teaching is similar as the construction plan of a building which describes how to construct that building. This paper describes the curriculum and instructional design process of a polytechnic subject -- Computer Aided Design 1 (CAD1). In this design, the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process was followed. The steps include analysing needs, selecting and sequencing content, developing lessons and evaluating instructions. After the first step and second step, a curriculum plan of CADl was worked out. After the third step, an instructional plan of each lesson was obtained. A practical application of these plans and the analysis of results were provided which showed that the design was successful. The outputs of the curriculum and instructional design of CADl were provided in the appendices .
