Abstract:
An investigative study was conducted on the first year nursing students on their learning experience in the nursing program. The purpose of this study is to answer these questions:

● Is there a significant difference in instructional strategies between the Bioscience/Behavioral Science and Nursing Science modules that influence the motivation in students' learning?
● Do students prefer Bioscience Behavioral Science modules? How do students learn the Nursing Science modules?
● What type of the teaching strategies should be adopted in order to improve students' learning?
● What factors at the School of Health Sciences (NYP) influence students' learning?

A questionnaire was adapted from Ramsden (1992) and given to 30 nursing students of the first year cohort. The result was analysed by the SPSS and displayed using the Microsoft Excel. The study shows that there is a need for changes to both the curriculum design and instructional strategies used in the teaching of the Nursing Science modules.
