Abstract
Math Explorer is an online assessment system that aims to grade multi-line mathematics solutions entered by students. Different from many existing computer software and online assessment materials, Math Explorer uses informational feedback. Students do not only learn the correctness of their answers, but also get hints/infomation that guide them to locate and correct their mistakes. This study attempts to find out how the students in a neighbourhood seconday school perceive this type of feedback. It is hoped that such knowledge will help teachers and online instructional designers to better design online assessment programs for secondary students.
