Abstract
An efficient catalytic system is developed to prepare N-aryl heterocyclic adducts via the cross-coupling of nitrogen heterocycles with a variety of aryl halides using a combination of Mn(OAc)2/trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane as catalyst. This crosscoupling reaction is one of the few examples of Mn-catalysed N-arylation of nitrogen nucleophiles and it proceeds efficiently in water making it an environmentally benign strategy. In this study, a series of nitrogen nucleophiles including pyrazole, 3-methyl pyrazole, 7-azaindole and indazole underwent the catalytic system and afforded the Narylated products in moderate to excellent yields (up to 95%).
