Abstract
Cross-cultural study is one of the most popular cultural studies topics in recent years. Via analyzing the message and its underlying meaning in the political, economical and social domains from the cross-cultural perspective, and conducting a comparison on specific research topics in different cultures, this paper aims to equip the audience with the ability to use the media. This will facilitate communication and foster understanding among the people and the Government.
Therefore, this research focuses on the media of two regions, Taiwan and Singapore. Areas of discussion include the Hanyu pinyin in Taiwan and the tainted-milk scandal. This paper aims to analyze the voice of the community and ideology in the two regions and to examine its effect on political and educational hegemony.
In view of the complicated historical and cultural background shared with China, the emergence of China evokes complex emotions in these two Asian regions, resulting in opposing perspectives within the community. I believe that this paper would be of significance in the international arena and can also foster understanding between Asian countries.
