Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and bio-physicochemical characterization of a series of mononuclear rhenium(I) tricarbonyl complexes, namely, [ReX(CO)3L2] (X = Br, Cl, DCA; L2 = en, tmen, bpy, dmen and bpdc). All the synthesized complexes were characterized by IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The complexes were screened for their cytotoxicity on the human leukemia (MOLT-4) cell line via the colorimetric MTT assay and results were expressed in terms of IC50 values. The MTT results show that [ReBr(CO)3(dmen)] has the highest cytotoxicity, with an IC50 value of 100 μM.
