Abstract
The present study investigated how individual differences among 241 students with dyslexia might relate to reading outcomes in an Orton-Gillingham-based intervention in Singapore. Variables associated with students' demographics (age, gender, ethnicity) and reading-related abilities (IQ, initial reading at entry, phonological and RAN skills) were analysed across three years of data from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore. The results indicated that initial reading level at entry, age and IQ significantly predicted reading outcomes in the first to third years of intervention, whereas phonological skills contributed a surprisingly small amount of variance in reading outcomes only in the first year. RAN skills, gender and ethnicity were not found to be significantly associated with reading outcomes. The implications of the results are discussed.
