Abstract
Ucapan ini adalah mengenai kisah Kesatuan Guru-Guru Melayu Singapura (KGMS) yang merupakan pengalaman daripada sudut penyampai. Ia menyelubungi penubuhan KGMS di mana ia didaftarkan sebagai kesatuan sekerja, pusat KGMS di mana ia beroperasi sehinggalah perjuangan KGMS untuk memperbaiki taraf hidup, ilmu serta latihan untuk ahli-ahli KGMS. Ia juga telah menganjurkan pertemuan kesusasteraan untuk memajukan bahasa Melayu di Singapura. Penyampai juga menyalinkan surat keberhasilan perjuangan KGMS (tentang kenaikan gaji guru-guru) dan juga tulisannya tentang peristiwa pelibatan KGMS dengan soal-soal kebangsaan.
This speech is about how the Singapore Malay Teachers' Union was formed and the speaker's personal experiences in KGMS. The speaker talks about how it was established as a teachers' union, the location of its headquarters and the union's struggle to improve the standard of living, knowledge and training for its members. The union also organised literary meets to advance the Malay language in Singapore.
