Abstract
The paper reports on the results of a study on how Secondary 3 and 4 (Grade 9 and 10) students from six schools interpret everyday phenomena involving light and sight. The test instrument was
administered to 237 students. A Students' Seeing Framework (Jones et al., 1995) which was constructed from three primitive notions (light,
eye and sight) served as the basis to analyse and evaluate students' responses. Statistical analyses were carried out to determine the gender differences with respect to the students' responses.
