Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is an extensive international health crisis. Restriction lockdowns imposed has led to social, mental and emotional issues. Despite the restrictions on many physical activities, individuals are still maintaining and starting to engage in fitness activities4 as participating in exercise supports one’s physical and psychological well-being. Understanding the intention to exercise during such pandemic is meaningful to health organizations. To the author’s knowledge, there is no study which investigates the effect of nostalgia on exercise intention. Hence, this study aims to examine the effect of nostalgia on the intention to participate in exercise activities during the COVID-19. A total of 113 Singaporeans participated in the study by completing an online questionnaire. Data screening was conducted on Statistical Package for Social Science and further data analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling, was conducted on Analysis of Moment Structure. All hypotheses were significant except for H2. In conclusion, exercise nostalgia did an indirect effect on exercise intention, where the effect was mediated by external motivation and attitude.
