Abstract
The Spaces of Madness - A Study of Asylums and Performance addresses confinement as a possible dehnition for madness.
This three-part Academic Exercise explores madness in the light of our educational context. The writer of this paper has been inspired by Michel Foucault's Madness and Civilization. The writer expresses her interpretation of Foucault through diagrams, formulated to bring to h&t asylum-like attributes within the confines for an educational institution.
The Formulations have been translated in the form of a play, "When Reason takes Flight.. ." - on madness and such. The play was performed on the of January 1999 at Raffles Studio Theatre to an audience of academic staff and some theatre practitioners.
