Abstract
We examined after-school classroom practices to understand how a game based curriculum based on American standards is taken up in Singapore schools. The Singapore educational system privileges a certain model of success and failure, which led students and teachers to adopt roles and practices which ran counter to the intended outcomes of the curriculum. Despite this, emergent student-oriented activities presented opportunities for successful implementations of the curriculum.
