- PublicationRestrictedThe relationship between the perceived and ideal organizational cultures in three government schools in Singapore(2006)Goh, Mee MeeThis study was designed to identify the perceived and ideal organizational cultures of three secondary schools and to explore the relationship between the perceived organizational culture and ideal organizational culture as seen by the teachers in the school.
The study was conducted in three government secondary schools from the West 6 cluster. 178 teachers were involved in this study. The organizational culture was measured by the Organizational Culture Inventory and Organizational Culture Inventory (Ideal) instruments from Human Synergistics International.
The findings of the study included the following :
1. The dominant perceived organizational cultures of all three schools are people-oriented, passive-defensive in nature.
2. The dominant ideal organizational cultures of School A and School C are satisfaction-oriented, constructive in nature.
3. The dominant ideal organizational culture of School B remains as people-oriented, passive-defensive in nature.
4. There is moderate, positive, significant correlation between all 12 styles in OCI and OCI (Ideal) for School A.
5. There is moderate, positive, significant correlation between nine styles in OCI and OCI (Ideal) for School B.
6. There is moderate, positive, significant correlation between five styles in OCI and OCI (Ideal) for School C.536 88
