Abstract
This thesis attempts to provide a better understanding of the self-concept of a sample of EM1, EM2 and EM3 pupils. This chapter, as an introduction to the thesis, is intended to outline the context of this study, the purposes, the rationale the significance of this study, the research questions and its respective hypotheses, the conceptual framework, definitions of terms, assumptions as well as the delimitations of this study.
