Abstract
The primary objective of this study is to explore the effect of a nine-week intervention on the social and emotional intelligence via self-concept, motivation and locus of control and the discipline of a group of Primary Five students in Singapore. A survey had been administered to 76 students in a government-aided school before and after intervention was added to the treatment group for 9 weeks. A total of 33 boys and 24 girls participated in the study. Although there were no significant differences between the treatment group and control group, the case vignettes featured in the research study showed that the students were more self-disciplined after they were exposed to emotional literacy.
