Abstract
Despite the potential of reflective thinking to help intelligence analysts avoid intelligence failures and become skilful practitioners, there has been limited research on how reflective thinking can be taught to the analysts. This article aims to fill the gap by discussing how reflective thinking is essential to and applicable for
intelligence analysis in the field of epistemology. Using the example of the concept of knowledge as 'justified true belief', this article explains how the various theories of truth and types of justification are integrated into and applicable for intelligence analysis. To facilitate the link between epistemology and intelligence analysis, this article refers to the case study of Iraq’s alleged Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
