Abstract
A group of secondary school students in Singapore participated in a video-conferencing programme conducted by an overseas university on a mathematics enrichment topic. Not only did the students have to attend a lesson taught by an expert, they also had to make short presentations to an audience whom they had never met before. This article describes the video-conferencing programme that linked secondary school students in two countries with a mathematics expert. The perceived benefits and shortcomings of such a technology are also considered with the aim of enabling potential users of video-conferencing to take advantage of the potential to support and enhance teaching and learning.
