Abstract
This paper provides a qualitative research and aims to study and explore the effectiveness of Kolb’s Experiential Learning theory in fostering students’ motivation in Chinese learning. Kolb’s Experiential Learning includes a four stage model, whereby learners experiencing learning through concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and finally, active experimentation. After a concise comparison and narrative review between the research papers found from National Institute of Education (NIE) ‘s library, ResearchGate and Elsevier, findings revealed several Experiential Learning strategies that can be applied in second - language learning, and several methods teachers could adopt to foster students’ motivation in Chinese learning.
